Welcome to the Learning English Through Literature Blog!

This is a space for you to exchange ideas, opinions and feelings about the books we are looking at and the ones you have chosen to present, perhaps even recommend some new ones.

As we only have bi-weekly classes this is an ideal place to meet and to relate your reading experiences between classes. Hopefully the posts here will also add to the richness of the discussions in class and provide a jumping off point for areas of discussion we might otherwise have overlooked.

Basically, the more you post, the more useful the blog.

So get writing!

Hi all,

Hope you're having a good week.

Don't know if anyone has tried to comment or post yet, but if you haven't please have a go - let me know if there are any problems.

Here's just a fun little interactive story - written by Mohsin Hamid (and you...)

http://wetellstories.co.uk/stories/week6/

Let me know what you think!

NOTE: As you may or may not yet have found The Reluctant Fundamentalist is a keen exercise in ambiguity (through storytelling)

As a little task for the class this friday, we will be telling out own stories - about our lives.

I want you to think of 5 interesting things you have done or do (holidays, work, hobbies, etc) and tell us about them.

But the interesting part is that one thing must be false - a lie. You, however, through your story telling (read: lying) abilities will attempt to make it impossible for us to decide which fact is false.

This then, will be our own experiment in ambiguity. Let's see how tells the best stories (lies...) ....

Can't wait,

See you then,

Oliver
